Both EIOBoard Server and Savance Workplace Server Installed

In the event that your “Add or Remove Programs” menu in Windows shows that you have both EIOBoard Server and Savance Workplace Server installed, this can likely cause issues when trying to upgrade the Savance Workplace Server to a newer version.

Upon running the newer version installer, it may prompt you to uninstall a version different than the version that is currently installed – this old version being the old EIOBoard Server version that it is still detecting on your system.

In order to clean up this old install from your server, you just need to run two short commands in PowerShell:

  1. This first command simply retrieves the Name and IdentifyingNumber of every installed program. Search the list for EIOBoard Server and copy down the associated IdentifyingNumber.

    Get-WmiObject -Query "SELECT * FROM Win32_Product" | Select-Object -Property Name, IdentifyingNumber

  2. Next, run this second command, replaced GUID with the IdentifyingNumber that you copied, making sure to include the curly brackets. This command will remove the program from Windows’ database of installed programs, which our installer checks for any previously installed versions.

    (Get-WmiObject -Query "SELECT * FROM Win32_Product WHERE IdentifyingNumber = '{GUID}'").Uninstall()

If you see an output like the one shown above, that means that things should have worked! You’ll have to either refresh or close and re-open the “Add or Remove Programs” menu in order for it to update, but EIOBoard Server should now be gone and you can successfully run the server installer upgrade now.
