How To Fix A Blank Status Board After A Server Update

If you just updated your Savance Server and are suddenly getting a blank status board on the browser or mobile interface, this is likely due to database compatibility issue from using an older SQL database. Fortunately the fix is fairly simple, but it will have to be done by someone who has access to your SQL server.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Go to wherever your SQL server is hosted. This is commonly hosted on the same server as your Savance On-Premise Server.
  2. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login to your database.Unless your changed them, the default credentials are:
    Username: sa
    Password: EBwebs@vant
  3. Under Databases, look for SolutionSavant (if you are using the default database name).
  4. Right-click the database and select Properties
  5. Go to Options. For the Compatibility level:, select the highest/newest compatibility it allows you to. In this example, the compatibility level was 110, and the highest it allowed was 140. Though if you have the option to set it to 160+, then select that.

This should then fix the issue with your status board not showing up on the browser interface. If it doesn’t, then consider restarting the server service.

For more information or other methods to update the database compatilibity level, please refer to this guide: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/databases/view-or-change-the-compatibility-level-of-a-database?view=sql-server-ver17
