Renaming or Changing Your SQL Database For On-Premises Customers

When renaming your SQL Database Server, Database name, or replacing your SQL Connection Account, you must update it in 2 places on your On-Premises Application Server. The first location is on your Savance Workplace Admin Server Console

  1. Click ‘Management’ then ‘Settings’ or press CTRL + S
  2. On the first page, edit the Database Server or Database Name depending on what you are renaming
  3. Press ‘Test Connection’ to ensure your new settings work

Second place to edit is the Web config which can be found via IIS or File Explorer

  1. Open IIS on your Application Server
  2. Navigate to ‘EIOBoard’
  3. Right click ‘EIOBoard’ then click ‘Explore’
  4. This will open File Explorer with the Web Config at the bottom of the files. Open this file to edit it
  5. You can use CTRL F ‘SQL Connection’ to find the SQL Connection Settings quickly
    1. if you are renaming the SQL Server Name, Edit the ‘Data Source’ field
    2. If you are renaming the Database Name, edit the ‘Catalog’ field
    3. If you need to change SQL accounts the Savance Server uses to connect, edit the ‘User’ or ‘Password’ fields

If you have errors saving your Web config due to security settings, please save the Web config in a folder like Documents then move the file manually via File Explorer.
