Slower Access and Latency Issues with Cloud Access for Global Customers and Alternate Hosting Options

Savance offers a range of deployment options to ensure optimal performance and usability for our global customers. Below is an overview of these options, with specific focus on the impact of latency and how to choose the best deployment method based on your location and business needs.

Deployment Options

  • Here, we explore four deployment options:
    1. Cloud-Hosted (Savance Cloud), hosted in Azure’s East US region, ideal for North American customers with latency testing recommended for others.
    2. Savance-Managed Isolated Cloud, allowing hosting in a closer Azure data center with Savance fully managing the environment. This depends on your geographical region and the size of your potential order whether this might be an option.
    3. Customer-Managed Isolated Cloud, allowing hosting in a closer Azure or AWS data center with Savance’s deployment guidance and customer-managed operations.
    4. On-Premises Deployment, offering maximum control and security by hosting on your own hardware, eliminating latency concerns but requiring in-house IT management.

Cloud-Hosted (Savance Cloud)

  • Default Hosting Location: Azure East US region.
  • Latency Considerations:
    • North America: 30-70 ms (U.S. & Canada)
    • Europe: 100-120 ms
    • Asia Pacific: 170-200 ms
    • China: 200-220 ms
    • South America: 140-170 ms
  • Suitability:
    • Best for customers in North America.
    • Customers outside North America should test latency (see below) and compare it to their acceptable levels for smooth application performance.
  • Testing Latency: Use the Azure Latency Test Tool to measure latency from your region to Azure East US. Detailed steps can be found here.

Savance-Managed Isolated Cloud

  • What It Offers:
    • Allows you to host the application in an Azure-hosted cloud environment within your region.
    • Savance fully managed the environment and will apply updates and upgrades when coordinated.
  • Benefits:
    • Low cost of ownership
    • Lower latency by choosing a closer data center in your preferred cloud provider’s

Customer-Managed Isolated Cloud

  • What It Offers:
    • Allows you to host the application in a cloud environment like Azure or AWS within your region.
    • Savance provides deployment guidance, but ongoing management is handled by your team.
  • Benefits:
    • Full control over your hosting environment.
    • Lower latency by choosing a closer data center in your preferred cloud provider’s network.

On-Premise Deployment

  • What It Offers:
    • Host the application on your own hardware at your physical location.
  • Benefits:
    • Eliminates latency concerns entirely.
    • Provides maximum control and security.
  • Considerations:
    • Requires IT resources for maintenance and management.

Making the Right Choice

  • Test your latency using the Azure Latency Test Tool.
  • Review your performance needs and tolerance for delays.
  • Consult with Savance for tailored recommendations based on your region and use case.
